A few words on IED

I teach in this program because I deeply believe in it and because I know that it changes students' lives, opens up whole new worlds of opportunities, and directly engages students in their fields of study at multiple levels, from rural and isolated communities to the halls of power in Washington, DC.

Before coming to American University, Dr. Domask was a research program officer in the Global Forest Program at the World Wildlife Fund in Washington, DC. In this post, he was responsible for conducting and coordinating research activities for the World Bank/WWF Forest Alliance - a high level partnership between the world's largest development organization and the world's largest environmental organization. He also served on the Alliance's core management team, which formulated policy and strategy initiatives for the Alliance and functioned as a coordinating body between regional staff and the upper management of WWF and the World Bank. Prior to coming to D.C., Domask was as a graduate assistant and fellow at the North-South Center, a research and policy institute in Miami devoted to Western Hemisphere issues. While in Miami, Dr. Domask earned his Ph.D. (1997) and M.A. (1995) at the University of Miami in international affairs and Latin American studies, with emphases on development, environment, and U.S. foreign policy. In 1992, he earned a B.S. in environmental science and policy at the University of Michigan. Among other activities, he is an avid outdoor enthusiast, triathlete, ultimate frisbee player, and rock climber.
